Serving Fat Face "special diet dishes" while you sit back and guzzle down split pea soup, mashed potatoes and gravy with side orders of pork chops, won't do his will power any good.

If you must eat that way, do it at noon when he isn't around. Do your eating up to suppertime, then slow down and eat what Fatso eats.

Remove temptation from the Old Devil.

Trim the fat for him in the kitchen, so he won't slide down a hunk when you aren't looking.

Help him keep from "calorie-cheating" himself. Open a branch of "Calories Anonymous."

You may be the local Prudence Penny of the dining room table, but when the siege is on, restrict your cooking instincts.

If you don't, you'll have Old Potbelly forever around the bedroom!

EDIT HIS FOODS FOR HIM

Men are just grown-up children, so edit their foods for them, girls.

Let Fatso think, of course, that he is really doing the picking and the choosing, but you do this for him back in the mysterious corners of the kitchen.

Sneak your own sweet tidbits in the afternoon when the girls are around gossiping, but keep them hidden from the old mouse.

Don't be a martyr, either.

Let him think it is tough on you, go around saying, "This is certainly no picnic for me - but for your sake, Aloysius, I'll stay with you," and he'll say, "Ah, nuts!" and go down to the corner free lunch at Kelly's and drown his disgust in meat balls and blintzes.

Don't let him feel you're doing him a favor, or he'll rebel.

It's worth it, you ball-and-chains, for once 40 pounds are off old Chubby's butterball breadbasket, he'll feel like acting young again, like the day you spotted Muscles showing off at the World's Fair.

Don't kill his "desires" with good cooking.


COMBINATIONS FOR FAT BOYS

I'm not a dietitian, but I have listened to experts. Let me give you some he-man combinations that will keep Fatty full and relaxed until he gets bold of himself:

1. Corned beef (9/10ths lean) and cabbage, with one boiled spud, some cottage cheese, a slice of rye - and a hunk of Swiss cheese and black coffee.

2. Filet with small baked Idaho, and one pat of butter, Bole slaw, any kind of vegetable, hunk of cheddar and coffee.
3. Roast beef, baked spud, some vegetables, a custard, and black coffee.

4. Roast chicken, one sweet potato for a change, cote slaw or tossed green salad, and lots of asparagus to fill him up.

5. Fish - with a touch of macaroni to fill his starch appetite - but bake or broil the fish. Throw in some cabbage and have a shrimp cocktail or oysters, but raw.

6. Grilled hamburgers - put on a thin slice of American cheese. Fill him up with bead lettuce and vinegar dressing, pickles, olives, celery. Give him some jello or low-sugar pudding.

7. Chow Mein him one night, but go light on the rice and make sure there is nothing rich in the sauce. This'll fill him up fast - but it won't last.

That's a good outline for seven days for Fatty. Nothing too high in calories. Nothing fried, at least. Little fat. Little starch. Just a pinch of sugar.

Give him a large bowl of light soup before every meal to fill up the empty space.

He'll never get fat eating cabbage, kraut, cole slaw, pickles, tomato juice, grapefruit, lean meats!
Trick the old buzzard, ladies.


SPOIL THE FATTENING FOODS

If he yells, "Why in thunder don't you give me some he-man's food around here!" then give it to him, but spoil them as I said before.

Overcook or undercook, overseason or underseason his fat boy meals to make them taste bad.

Then put the real window dressing and lace trimmings on the thinning foods until he begins to wonder, "Maybe at last I'm developing a gentleman's taste for finer foods, at that!"

Soon you'll have your Lothario of the Bedroom back again, by bringing your own Victor Mature out of the tub of lard where he is now hidden.
