Some of my own experience with the lemonade diet

I know Burroughs says that maple syrup is loaded with trace elements, and that we get enough nutrition on the cleanse, but if you look at, say, Nutrition Data's information about the vitamins and minerals in maple syrup, there's not enough there to live on. So I do take a multivitamin while I'm on the cleanse.



I do not think Burroughs emphasizing drinking water enough. With this much cleansing going on, you need to flush your system with water. Preferably purified or reverse osmosis water, but any water is better than nothing. I aim for drinking a full gallon of water a day on the cleanse. I rarely get that much down (between the lemonade, and the water, that's a lot of drinking!), but try to get at least ten 8 ounce glasses of water down a day.

Even with the salt bath, there are going to be a few days that you feel rotten. Let yourself rest as much as possible on those days. That said, some days you'll feel good. You can go about your normal activities on the cleanse -- I have done 14 hour hikes at 10,000 feet elevation on the cleanse, and done heavy yard work on the cleanse. You can also still work out, and continue a weight lifting practice on the cleanse.
