Keep it in your pocket or purse. It will always be with you to make sure you don't tilt the pinball machine on yourself.

calorie counter slide rule On page II is a summarized listing of calories, based on best calorie charts available, so that you can quickly count the calories in what you consume.

All calorie charts vary somewhat in the amount of calories that an item of food contains, but they are all fairly close to each other.

I chose the chart put out by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, since I felt these boys should know calories. It is up to them to keep their paying insuree out of the coffin by keeping him trim.

I give you calories in round figures, rather than odd numbers, to help you count quicker.

When you see you are nearing the point where you should stop, then you'd better edit your food a little harder for the rest of the day so you won't overshoot the mark.

Work on a 3-day period of time. If you are trying to hold down to 1,500 calories per day, then set yourself up for 4,500 for 3 days, so if you are forced to overeat one day due to a banquet or a party, you can hold down the other two days and make the 3-day average work for you.

Remember, it takes some 36 hours for today's food to turn into fat. Your weight today is what you put into your system some 36 hours previously.

What you eat today walks and talks tomorrow!

Here is a good way to Dial Away the Waist Line and enjoy it! Like playing a pinball game, but don't tilt the machine on yourself.

Be honest! You can't fool your stomach! Nor the scale!



FUN WITH A PURPOSE
I soon found that dieting can be a game.

It can be as much fun as Canasta or Tiddly-Winks, provided you make it a game.

I made a game of it with my Fat Boy's Slide Rule.

When I suddenly find at the 3 P.M. coke period that I am running too high nowadays, I slow down for the rest of the afternoon.

I know where I stand all day long.

Knowing where I stand keeps me reducing.

When I really started to diet scientifically, I soon found I didn't need to refer to the Calorie Chart on page II. I found myself remembering the calorie value of the main dishes. It became second nature to edit out the fattening foods.

Using the Fat Boy's Slide Rule became fun - fun with a definite purpose. That purpose was to eat all I wanted, and still reduce.
Then one day I found I had slid down to 215 pounds. I had lost 15 pounds!
