Old Fat Boy Elmer was really going full steam ahead now!
I had gained momentum, and it's hard to stop momentum.
Every day at first I went down half a pound, sometimes a pound. It got to be a game-one of the most satisfying games I ever played.
Calories, Calories, who's got the Calories! And before long now I'd be ready to go on to Post Office. Pretty soon the girls would be able to stand close enough to me again to take a Special Delivery instead of marking it "Return to Sender"-and pretty soon maybe they'd want to again.
It was the scientific approach that was doing it. I repeat, before dieting always see your doctor first. No more homemade diets for me.
I formed "Calories Anonymous" and learned to do it right!
I trimmed the fat. I sidestepped the starch, I short- circuited the sugar.
I ate wisely, I ate easily, I ate slowly!
Yep, I created "Calories Anonymous." Our class yell is:

DIET BY FATTY
Here is an example of my home-made, self-prescribed diet, typical of so many fatties, the reason fatties so often say, "I eat like a bird, yet look at me!"
This is a fine example of how to eat light and stay heavy by concentrating on high-calorie foods that put on weight as they keep you hungry.

Yep, Fatty thinks he went light all day long, and just ate a normal dinner at night, Big, yes - "but I gotta keep up my strength, ain't I?"
Depending on how often he sneaks off for these midmorning and mid-afternoon snacks that don't
count if nobody is watching, Fatty - operating under his homegrown system - has totaled somewhere between 4,900 and 6,400 calories.
Forty-nine hundred calories! Look at the Fat Boy's Slide Rule! That's enough for "Athletes and Hyperthyroid Gossips!"
Sixty-four hundred calories! Why, that's enough for a family!
On his so-called "diet" he has consumed twice or three times what a normal man should have!
No wonder he tells his doc, like I did, "I eat like a bird, and look at me!"
